Star Wars: The Clone Wars was born in 2007 as a movie format, being nothing more than a compilation of what was originally intended as 3 episodes for the series that started the following year (2008), and it continued without any issues until a sixth season aired in 2014 and concluded with a final season released in 2020.

While initially the weekly episodes progressed without apparent problems, at a certain point, observant viewers noticed that something didn’t quite add up, as the story arcs were not always entirely clear.

Surely having seen the series for the first time, you encountered some inconsistencies, such as characters dying and then reappearing (for example Admiral Trench) or events that seemed related despite being separated by other story arcs (the Holocron Heist arc).

There are even episodes that take place before the movie, which was the first thing released.
From a storytelling perspective, it’s not necessarily inconsistent, as the airing order doesn’t correspond to the chronological order accepted within the fan community.

While, in general, there’s no problem with watching the series in release order, randomly placed episodes may cause you to miss certain details in the overall plot.

In 2014, when the series went on hiatus, which at the time was effectively a cancellation, Leland Chee (the person with the best job in the world, watching Star Wars 24/7) tweeted the definitive chronological order, clearing up all doubts and making it much more interesting for everyone to watch.

And even though all the episodes are on Disney+, there isn’t a collection that allows you to watch them in that chronological order.

But beyond this, the story doesn’t end there, as in September of the same year, a series of stories corresponding to episodes left unfinished due to the cancellation were shown to the public.

The project called The Clone Wars Legacy showcases some story arcs that didn’t finish the post-production stage, although some were adapted into books, the seventh season, etc.
To the delight of some, these are now part of the current canon and, of course, also part of the Green Lore.
